Nine suites on the quiet east shore of Torch Lake. Slow mornings, cedar saunas, and water so clear you’ll check twice. This is the North, unhurried.
The stays
Good to know
A nine-suite lakeside lodge on the east shore of Torch Lake, Michigan. Cedar buildings tucked into second-growth hardwoods, a private sand beach, and a sauna house at the waterline. Adults-oriented, unhurried, and deliberately small.
Early May through late October. The lake is warmest in August, the woods are loudest with color in October, and June mornings belong to the loons. Winter the lodge rests.
Nine suites across eleven acres, no televisions in the rooms, and a no-speakers policy on the beach and docks. You’ll hear water, wind, and the occasional eagle. That’s the point.
Layers. Even in July, the lake breeze turns cool after sunset. Bring a warm sweater, broken-in walking shoes for the ridge trail, and a swimsuit — the sauna house is open until ten.
The two Woodland Cabins welcome one well-mannered dog each, for a small nightly fee. Dogs stay off the beach and out of the sauna house — the squirrels have seniority here.
Breakfast is served in the great room from seven to ten — baked that morning, coffee from a Traverse City roaster. Evenings, the kitchen does a single family-style seating at six-thirty; tell us your dietary needs when you book.
Full refund up to fourteen days before arrival, fifty percent inside fourteen days. If we can rebook your suite, we refund you in full regardless — small lodge, human rules.
